A Note on This Beer

Bam! Tart cherry bursts onto the scene, followed quickly by a sweet gush of pineapple. Whoosh! The refreshing juice flows into a creamy vanilla finish.

Every sip of Overnight Success jolts the senses alert in delicious surprise. By the bottom of the can, I’m wondering how the heck I haven’t heard of this Fruited Sour until now! It’s even got a star-studded lineup of ingredients: cherry, pineapple, and vanilla, plus a stream of lactose for extra silky goodness.

The brew is a limited release from Wise Man Brewing, and it’s not leaving North Carolina except through Tavour. But gauging from the early reviews it’s got all the makings of a local beer-celebrity:

If you ask me, crafting a brew with this much flavor can't happen overnight. This Sour star is the product of years of hard work, and it shows!

Great sour base and smooth flavor bursting with fruit notes. Less smoothie style and more sour ale style IMO. Like a liquid tropical ambrosia salad

Clean and not too tart. Can taste the pineapple for sure but the rest of the flavors are subtle. Crisp and really drinkable sour.

*Update* - My initial rating is below - it seems that one of the cans was just a bad can. I decided to open another one and this time it was good. Still stand by it not being a smoothie style at all though. But it's better than the .25 rating I initially gave... Not a smoothie style or sour at all. Tasted flat. Very disappointed since I purchased multiple cans. Down the drain they go.

Not what I was expecting. Light body. Watery. Hint of fruit. Not smoothie style. Looks like apple juice rather than how it’s portrayed in photo

Considering the lactose, it’s not as thick as I expected. Not a lot of cherry or vanilla flavor. Average at best.

Just wasn’t what was expected from a “smoothie style”. Flavors weren’t really there, very watered down taste if any. Sadly the drain got to enjoy most of this

Flavor is of light tropical, cherry, melon, and citrus fruits with a cracker malt undertone. Tastes decent but kind of watered down. The fruit flavor that's there is a tad bit artificial, but not super noticeable on account of the watered down part. Other than that there's nothing wrong with it, just not very interesting. I'd probably give this a pass.

Awful. Nothing like a smoothie sour and tastes like a slightly sour Bud Light. Would have gotten a 1 star if not for extremely misleading description.

Not really smoothie style. It was tart but not overwhelmingly so. Smooth. Yummy. Slightly fruited.

Think light, refreshing, slightly sour with very subtle hints of fruit that only the avid beer taster could decipher. Not even close to a smoothie style.

I personally did not get a smoothie sour out of this. It was more of an IPA with fruit compliments. I'm not an IPA guy so this was a bummer for me.

A really good fruit and cream mixture. Similar to Duchess De Bourgogne but a little lighter. Overall great flavor and not overpowering.

Was hoping for a thicker consistency and a stronger taste. Tastes like beer with a slight hint of fruit. Not really as sour as I had hoped either. It’s good, just not quite as tart or fruity as I would like it to be.
