About This Beer
Great Notion was the first brewery in Portland to even make a Hazy IPA back in 2016, cementing their place in the city’s long and storied hop-history. They’ve since embraced the haze craze, clamoring for every new release, and ripe is among their most popular juicebombs!
Tasting Notes
Each sip of this 100% Citra Hopped brew swells with flavors of fresh squeezed OJ, dank papaya, and tropical mango. As the flavors subside, a faint echo of pithy bitterness lingers on the palate, quietly beckoning the next sip.

Great IPA. It’s comparable to 2 of my other favorite breweries IPA’s; Toppling Goliath and Drekker.

The Citra juice is loose.

Definitely taste the mango and papaya. Fruity, but enough hop bitterness to balance it out.

Tbh, I’m shocked how much I liked this. My first Great Notion. Won’t be my last.

Creamy and dank, with an amazingly smooth mouthfeel. Tons of fruit notes, followed up with a piney, pungent smack in the mouth to finish it off. Great Notion has done it again!

Not for me. More resin-y than I’d expect on both the nose and palate. I don’t get the tropics fruits.

One of the best single hop IPAs out there. Truly fantastic.

Favorite brewery in my favorite city - so lucky to snag some of this, and it doesn’t disappoint! Hazy is almost too light a term for how thick this pours, but it still stays bright, dry, and bitter. No cloggy mouthfeel or overly sweet finish like so many hazies. Perfect!

A very clean IPA... has a smooth mouthfeel accompanied by a nice mango flavor

Bright aromas of orange and tangerine. Mouthfeel is soft with just a bit of tangy zip. Nice notes of juicy mango and orange zest. Refreshing, fruity, delicious.

solid and hits the mark.

Bitter as you would expect, vegetal up front because (IPA), I will say the secondary and tertiary notes are outstanding. Rich and ripe as the brewery name suggests. Mango and papaya come through strong, you can taste the viscous, sticky, and mucous like fluid that comes with these orange fruits.
