A Note on This Beer
427 days — that’s over 10,000+ hours or 36 million seconds that Tavour’s Barrel-Aged craft fans have been eagerly waiting (and emailing, and calling) for Great Basin’s 427 Scytale Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout.
And no wonder! This stuff is aged for 427 full days in a trifecta of Wild Turkey, Rogue, and Jim Beam Bourbon barrels. The last time we managed to score a few cases, the lucky few to taste it rated it a whopping 4.28 on Tavour!
While many Dark Beer fans mark their calendars for releases of Three Floyds’ Dark Lord or Fremont’s B-BOMB, Scytale fans don’t have that luxury. Each release takes its own time to perfect, so you never know when it’ll come out.
Well folks, you can stop flooding our inbox now, cause this 11.8% ABV boozy fudge brew has finally returned!
But unless you’re willing to part with a kidney for a trade, one of the only places to get your 427 days of bourbon-soaked luxury is right here.
427 days in the barrel may seem random, but that’s exactly how long Great Basin needed to meld pure bourbon intensity with the caramel dark cocoa essences of the Imperial Stout base.
Any longer and the oak will overpower the ganache-like silkiness; any shorter and the toffee liquor bite won’t infuse into the brew. Aged just right and the whisky-soaked fudge melts into a chocolate malted milkshake. That’s what you’ll taste in every sip of Scytale.
Don’t miss out on this chance to score one of the most celebrated brews to come out of the Nevada. Share a coveted bottle with your craft beer buddies and prove to them that all the time spent waiting was well worth it!
