A Note on This Beer

After a long day of hitting the trails, it feels good to treat yourself.

And, now you can indulge with today’s smoothie Sour from Mountains Walking, the craft kings who PorchDrinking calls “the biggest trailblazers when it comes to crafting new and creative beers!”

Bozeman, Montana’s highly respected brew crew crafted their black currant cheesecake Sour with the avid do’er in mind. This celebratory dessert is perfect for toasting a job well done!

To start, they brewed their Sour base with oats and milk sugar to create a rich, thick beer. Then, they packed it with over 1,500 pounds of black currant and cheesecake confectionary! No matter how you slice it, that’s A LOT of baked goods and berries loaded in every sip.

The creamy, smooth texture lasts throughout, but the tart black currant stands out right at the start of every drink. Afterward, the tangy cheesecake notes climb onto your palate, only to open up to a beautiful, tannic finish from the dark berry’s flesh.

Whether you’re wrapping up a hike, mowing the lawn, or just getting that last pesky chore done, you gotta celebrate a finish! Go ahead — crack open some Sweets. It’s exactly the drink you deserve, and an excellent pairing with the view from the top.

Mountains Walking has also climbed the proverbial trail of craft beer, winning 2 Golds and 4 medals at the North American Brewers Association Beer Awards!

I’m not sure? The black currant is awesome. And it definitely has a cheesecake flavor. But I don’t know if it’s pleasant or not haha - the more I drank it, the less I liked it. The smell is awful :(

from the reviews I don’t see beer drinkers. this is a solid beer. I went from drinking just IPA’s to finally understanding sours and Berliner Weisse’s. it has made me appreciate all types of beer styles . Mountains Walking definitely is doing it right

Tastes EXACTLY like a beer that is trying to tease me that it’s a slice of cheesecake. This brewery is proving to be one of my favorite.

Cheesecake flavor comes through velvety and creamy with hints of vanilla. Finishes with a light sour reminiscent of blackberry. Very good overall and enjoyed

Ordered from Tavour in 16 ounce glasses, chilled, and poured into a hurricane glass. Look: deep magenta colored with a half-finger sized white head that dissipated and left a light pink colored ring of foam and light pink lacing down the glass as we drank. Smell: Cheesecake and berry up front, followed by malty cobbler notes. Taste: Sour berry up front, followed by cheesecake that dominates the nose, trailing malt, vanilla and more cheesecake that hang around a while. No booze, no bitter and no hop presence. Feel: Light to medium feel, light tickle of carbonation on the front that dissipates quickly, leaving sour notes in the trailing feel that provide a crips finish. Overall a solid addition to the season series from mountains walking. We are fans of Mountains Walking and their sour series is pretty spot on to their description. This is a nice, refreshing addition to their sour and seasonal series. Love the cheesecake with the berry notes, almost enough that it is like a cobbler. Fun beer. Cheers!

Super interesting! Black currants are definitely there with some hints of creamy cheesecake. Maybe even a hint of vinegar?

Definitely a more sour entry than usual from the “Sweets” line. The slow buildup of cheesecake was profound.

Tart up front from the berries and smoothes out towards the finish. Sometimes sours are over the top sour and this one isn't which is a big plus for me. Got even better the more I drank it.

Notes of vanilla[emulating cheesecake], the black current almost brings out a raspberry flavor. A tart fruity fragrant flavor that hits you, then dissipating to a smooth almost subtle yet smooth cheesecake flavor that leaves you begging for more. So good!

was super good. I only got two cans the first one I opened was tart as tart could get not much notes of cheesecake. then my second omg the blend was perfect. tart at first and the pastry hit so hard in the background.
