A Note on This Beer

Aroma: Freshly brewed mocha cappuccino from your favorite local roaster. Flavor: Loaded with notes of dark chocolate ice cream and chocolate-frosted coffee cake. Elegantly balanced, the brewers cut the à la mode pastry sweetness with robust roastiness from hints of espresso. Mouthfeel: Thick, like if pudding was drinkable. Ingredients: Chocolate malts, creamy vanilla, locally roasted Sputnik coffee & real maple syrup.

Smooth. Would be great for brunch

Strong coffee flavor here. Not much vanilla, but has a creamy taste. I can smell the coffee and slight sweetness of the cakes and or vanilla. Can’t differentiate between. A slight sweet but strong coffee flavor. This would be a Sunday morning brunch beer. Kinda bitter at the end of each sip. Good, but the Raspberry French Toast is the one! I like the dark and hazy color. It just got too strong of a coffee flavor half way through. It didn’t taste like beer anymore.

For what it was aiming for, it was successfully executed. An imperial stout with maple and vanilla is of course going to be sweet. Oversweet? Maybe a tad. The vanilla was prominent at start with coffee taking over at back end. Really strong coffee vibes at end. Subtle maple throughout. Would have liked a little more maple. Overall, very syrupy and thick.

Smells like freshly brewed black coffee. Mouthfeel is slightly syrupy. If you like very sweet stouts this one is a heavy maple sweetness. Aromatic and taste experience throughout of coffee.

Chilled in a 16 ounce can and poured into a goblet. Look: dark, almost black with finger width head and light lacing. Smell: sweet, day old coffee, vanilla and a hint of cinnamon Taste: sweet up front with a quick replacement of day old coffee, trailing vanilla with a bit of spice. Bren gets some sweet carrot type of flavor, but I told her that I think she is a bit crazy on that one... but don't tell her I said that. So, we read some reviews and people were saying maple. If you really reach I guess you can get some maple... but you have to reeaaaally reach on the end for it. For a 12% ABV beer, the booze is hidden well in the sweet and day old coffee notes. Feel: medium to full body, light carbonation and no alcohol drying Interesting beer. We love Hubbard's Cave and their dark beers (yum!). If you like the "day old coffee" trend, this one is amazing for a 12%.
