About This Beer

If you have a toddler, this beer could be their 21st birthday present. Seriously — River North designed Vicennial: Barrel-Aged Shadowman to age for up to two FULL decades.

In all honesty, I’d have to bury my bottle in my backyard to even have a chance of keeping my paws off this 16.9% ABV monster for that long.

But the reality is, this edition — aged in 4x World Whiskies Award-winning Breckenridge Bourbon Barrels — will only get smoother and more nuanced with time. Which is a hard concept to grasp, considering it’s already incredibly delicious as is!

Tasting Notes

Shadowman’s oil-black pour enrobes the palate with avalanches of rich dark chocolate, mole spice, traces of caramel, and a hint of tobacco char. The finish reverberates with echoes of silky smooth cocoa and maple syrup, lingering long after the sip.

this just a wonderful classic barrel aged stout. reminds me of the first time I ever had a ba stout but better. just wish I had a few more to try ever 5 years.

High Al BA Stout with the touch that it can be aged for 20 years. The frequency seems to be 16.9%, but I don't feel any alcoholic feeling except for the heat of my throat. Good fragrance like dark chocolate. It's a bit astringent, but it's not bad. Don't drink it with a smooth liquid quality. Maybe I like it quite a lot.

Really good. Super complex. Caramel notes on the back end. The char is there too, although it fades as it warms. Excellent stout.
