Owners and founders Shawn and Lindsey Johnson met and married in Florida before being whisked away by Shawn’s Coast Guard aviation career, allowing them to try new local beers at every new station. In Alaska, Shawn got a taste of homebrewing, then back in Florida got acquainted with a local brewery owner where he began to study something perfectly suited to his taste –– wild beer. When the couple eventually moved south to Greenville, SC, they saw a hole in the craft market serving up funky beer and throwback styles. Birds Fly South was born. Make no mistake, they can sling trendy styles like the best of them, and their wide variety of beer has won them more than 20 medals over the years, including GABF and National Brewers Association golds!
