A Note on This Beer

The Black is Beautiful Initiative began at Weathered Souls, a black-owned brewery in Texas. Now, over 1,000 breweries are banding together worldwide!

Brewers of all backgrounds are proudly featuring the Black is Beautiful label and putting their own unique twist on a unified Stout recipe. All to help bring awareness to the injustices that many people of color face daily.

And by snagging a few cans of today’s special edition from Mountains Walking, you can show your support for the collective mission: “To bridge the gap that has been around for ages and provide a platform to show that the brewing community is an inclusive place for everyone of any color.”

Black is Beautiful: Blackberry, Blueberry, and Maple is the first of many delicious ways to join the cause.

The beloved Bozeman brewers conditioned their version of this sumptuous Stout on real blackberries, blueberries, and maple. Each decadent sip is like a bite of warm, fluffy chocolate chip pancakes, topped with a dollop of mixed berry compote and drenched in maple syrup.

But, it’s not only about the dessert decadence. Mountains Walking is donating 100% of their proceeds to The Montana Racial Equity Project, a nonprofit organization promoting equity and racial justice in the brewery’s home state.

When you drink this silky Stout, you’re raising a glass with breweries and craft lovers to support positive change!

The blueberry and maple play such a warming role in this beer. Seriously one of the best beers I’ve had with such a great message behind it

This tastes like a stout is supposed to taste. It's dark and creamy with a touch of bitter at the end. What is disappointing about this beer is the blueberry, blackberry, and maple just don't come through. If you close your eyes you might be able to convince yourself that the bitter taste at the end is blackberry but you'd be fooling yourself.

Had a slightly more bitter finish than i would have liked, but that is minor compared to the robust flavoring. Great stout!

An imperial stout as black as my heart. Strong cocoa start (or is that maple?) - very good - but the finish is a bit bitter and leaves my mouth dry and poor, like a passed over call girl on a Saturday night. Overall, very much like bitter sweet chocolate in a glass. Okay.

Slightly bitter at the end. Was hoping for more a more berry/maple forward flavor.

More drinkable than the Forest fortress but missing the beautiful nuttiness. The maple brings a nice sweetness but the fruit isn't as distinct as they could be.

Truly disappointed in the complete lack of fruit profile. Tiny bit of maple flavor but nothing comes through in terms of berries. Was really looking forward to this one but it’s only mediocre.

Definitely disappointed in this particular stout after reading the description. I was really looking forward to fruity taste of blackberry and blueberry with maple. honestly all I've gotten out of this is a slightly roasted flavor with bear to minimal sweetness definitely no maple flavor nor chocolate chip pancakes.

"chocolate chip pancakes with berry compote and maple syrup?" This beer was brewed with exactly 0 fruit or maple. Starting to think tavour doesn't actually try the beers they write reviews for, especially since almost all of them compare the stouts to pancakes.
