About This Brewery
Burial Beer’s history could be reduced to a single word: expansion. Doug and Jesse Reiser met fellow Burial founder Tim Gormley in Seattle, where the three started a local beer blog and quickly became entrenched in the craft industry. It wasn’t long before the trio decided it was time to open their own brewery. Landing in Asheville, NC, they set up shop with a one barrel system. Unable to keep up with demand, the taproom was expanded and a 10 barrel system was installed within a year. Within two more, Burial was moving to a new production facility in a nearly 100-year-old government built camp, Forestry Camp. With the new space came a 20 barrel brewhouse with 60 barrel fermenters and room for a barrel-aging program, a winery, and a new restaurant. Since then, Burial has added a second taproom in Charlotte and started a new wine and cider brand, Visuals. The demand and necessity for constant expansion speaks for itself.
