Barebottle Brewing was founded by homebrewers, and still relies on the homebrewing community to innovate and create new brews. They hold homebrewing classes at the brewery, regularly host competitions, and ask their fans to vote on what new beers they should brew next. Even their best known IPA, Muir Woods, started as the winner of a homebrew contest. Others, like Galaxy Dust IPA, began as one of co-founder Lester Koga’s own recipes when he was brewing in a garage. And, of course, some are pure Barebottle, like Nitro Espresso Macchiato Stout and Mango Flossi Sour. These days, Barebottle is one of the most popular breweries in the Bay Area, but they’re still true to their homebrewing roots.
